Contemplative prayer is an ancient Christian form of meditation. In our contemporary world, full of things that worry and distract us, contemplative prayer offers an opportunity to still and quiet our minds as we focus on God's presence. The practice of contemplative prayer opens us to hear the still, small voice of God and can be very healing. Each of the six sessions offers a unique doorway into contemplation, through such tools as scripture, icons, art, movement, and sound. The Rev. Jane Piver will lead the sessions at Graves Chapel on Wednesday mornings beginning on August 23 from 9 am to 1 pm, and continuing from 10 am to 11:30 am on August 30, September 6, September 13, September 27, and October 4. Please contact Susan Bagby at sahhull@gmail.com to register for the class. You do not need to attend every class to join in, although the first class is the most important.
